...This motor has been sitting for some time. We just came across it the other day. I could get her to start up and run for a few minutes at first... no prob. Then it just putters out when i try to throttle up. It keeps stalling everytime i give it gas. I realized when i got home that i hadnt vented the gas in the can with the vent screw (75% of the fuel in the can, I had purchased that day). Do you think this is my problem or should i investigate the carburetor or something else? Thanks in advance.

Check the fuel pump screen for trash as well as the fuel bowl on the carb. Check to see that the inlet needle that let's the gas flow to the carb bowl isn't stuck and float are free.
Make sure the choke and throttle valve in the carb isn't sticking.
