So my 87 80hp is retired as of 3 days ago till i rebuild it and i ran into a 89 90HP in very good shape and seemingly very well maintained so grabbed it cause they are basically the same. I switched the motors and it fired up perfect and idled great. I then continued on into the water and it seemed to run very well and so I came back to shore and picked up my buddy after he moved my truck and then we headed out working the motor slowly through the throttle as i just got it. Worked great then eased it in to full throttle and cruised for a minute or 2 and then it shut itself down. it fired back up like it never happened and so i tried again and it did it again. I went back to the trailer and tried it there at all different throttle locations and it never happened again?? As i am in the ocean this is not a problem I like very much.
