Anyone know about foam? My bluefin has foam that is water logged do I really need to replace it or can I do without? If I do have to replace what is a solution?

I'm not sure but I THINK your boat is a TIN BOAT and I am NOT a TIN BOAT guy, BUT, I am Pretty sure that your foam is NOT structural and therefore you do NOT HAVE to replace it. It DOES serve two purposes however, sound dampening and floatation. A LOT of the guys on here use the PINK or the BLUE foam from Lowe's or Home Depot or some of them have even used Pool Noodles. Do a Search for Replacing Foam and you will find a TON of examples.

Re: 88 bluefin

I have an 1987 19' Blue Fin Sportsman. I just took all the old foam out and replaced it with the pink foam from Home Depot. I had rot on the deck and replace all the deck boards. I would definitly replace the foam, as stated, it is flotation and sound dampaning. Good luck and post some pics of your project.
