Took it for it's first run in several years today. Old gas, new plugs, ran better & better as I ran it...

Wondering about 2 things:

How can I tell if the oil pump is actually working?

Can I get a temp guage to alert me if the water pump/impeller quits working.

thanks,

For peace of mind give it a water pump service.
If in doubt about the pump mixing oil then mix the gas at 50 to 1 and mark the oil tank level. compare the amount gone from the oil tank to the amount of gas used. Premixing will make certain that your motor is getting the lubrication it needs and running double oil if the pump is working properly will do no harm.
My 2 cents

I also recommend premixing your fuel, there are plenty of post in here on how to disconnect a VRO.

thank you for the responses.

BTW, what does "VRO" stand for, and what does it tell me about my engine?
