88 force 125 shifting trouble

I have a trophy center console with a 125 force<br />goes in reverse fine but when i shift to forward you can hear the gears like they are barely touching and will not move got the boat back to the house and fired it up on the boot put in gear goes in fine no noise stuck a big stick against the prop and it chewed up the stick<br />any suggestions?

check out the shift rod on the lower unit.there is a adjustment on it.last year had to drop the lower unit must of turn the rod adjustment by mistake,had the same problem.

thanks I'll try that does it turn to lengthen and shorten?

yes pull the cotter pin.@lengthen it.i think when handle on shift go into foward the rod goes in the down position

tnt460: hi, let me ask you how is the salt water fishing in the carolinas.was thinking to relocate in murrels inlet.just south of myrtle beach.glad you fix your problem ;)

Since it works fine now you might want to (if you haven't already) change your lower end fluid and make sure there is not small metal shavings floating around in it.
