I have read through most of the Force Tilt/Trim threads on the forum and searched high and low and hope someone can help me.

I pulled my Pump apart and replaced the 2 orings in the bottom valve body. However before doing that I took the top plate of the valve body off. The one where there are 3 big ball bearings 1 small ball bearing and a couple of springs.

I haved edited this post so hopefully if anyone is searching for the same thing I was they can find this easier...

The Oring Part numbers for the Leak down problem are

tecumseh 631021b briggs & stratton 22-10055 which replaces 398188

If you don't have any needles then never mind. Not all versions had them.
If the shuttle ring is good then only easy thing left is that you put little ball bearing into the hole before the small spring. the spring should push the bearing away from gear plate and into lower body.

Re: 88 Force 125 Tilt/Trim Question

it looks correct in top picture but .... that metal plug is very rare. Whenever I rebuild a pump like yours I throw the plug & spring away and tap threads into the post. The I use a 1/4" set screw and new spring to dial in the pressure to 1800PSI. Drop a pair of small SS washers in the hole before spring to prevent spring from creeping up onto setscrew. With parts you have - you need to reassemble and check your pressure output on the downward facing port. You need 1200-2000psi. If it is off then disassemble, shim the spring, and repeat.

be careful not to damage the regulator seat which can be seen in fourth picture. if the hole becomes distorted then the seat has to be replaced. Since you don't have another pump to cannabilize that would mean the pump is ruined. so be careful not to damage the steel seat.
