Man, does this place have the information or what. I have been reading for days about everything. I have read on this site for days and days and the different stuff that could cause problems and how the repair and trouble shoot the engine.
I have made some moves with my motor that I would have paid to have done had I not heard about this site. More on who sent me later in the post, you won't beleive it...
I have disabled the VRO and premix the fuel.
With premix is it good for the engine to run it dry for storage? Longer than a two week time. I have read post that pointed the problems with doing it while the VRO is in place, don't remember seeing this question.
The same weekend (Friday evening) that I disabled the VRO, I de-carboned the engine, using the 3/4 gallon, 16 seaform, 3 oz of 2 stroke, run 15 mins and off 15 mins. Interesting results other than cleaning the engine, it only takes 30 mins in my engine to burn up that much fuel...
Then used another whole can of seafoam (I poured it into a spray bottle) pulled the plugs and used it up on the interior of the engine.
After watching the weight in at Paris Landing KY (Saturday) and see KVD win with 92lbs 5ozs.
I waited an extra day before tossing the boat in the water to burn of the seafoam. By Sunday afternoon, looked like road tar dripping off the scag, shook the boat off in the water, got it runnung, smoked real good for about 3 mins. Runs great. Just won't idle after 5 to 8 mins in the water, so I have ordered the carb-kits and plan on cleaning the next weekend.
Thanks again for the great information and help that is provided here. I have read the tips for getting the questions answered here; and by the size of my post, I blew it. I am just so thankful for the time and attention that is shared here to help others and save money.
Now the the teaser on how I found this site... The Old Bait House Of Paducha Ky. The very place that sold me my boat on May 10 2010. That is right, the owner, Steve Ballard, is doing the same thing in person that all of you do here, help one another out. Its werd to get that kind of help from a boat service store.
Until next time
.
Jay
