88 Johnson 25 hp cuts out

Thanks in advance for help/advice.
My motor is a pull start tiller model.
She starts like a champ, idles okay, then as you throttle up it will cut out here and there, once your at 1/2 throttle you no longer notice it. The stop button has quit on me now as well. Could a short in the stop button cause any of this or is it just a coincidence?

Installing a carburetor kit should help you. Also the stop wire I think has a black plug where it connects to the power pack. The wire connections on that plug get loose. Hope this helps ya..
