I recently sold two 1988 Johnson 48 SPL's and one of these motors, which used to run perfectly, is having a problem. The only think worse than having motor problems is unknowingly selling motor problems to someone else.
The motor cranks with ZERO hesitation and idles perfectly, but when ANY throttle is applied, it bogs down and stays down. It won't shut off, it just becomes a very slow idle.
The carbs have been cleaned and are like new. The power pack has been replaced by the one from the other motor. Both plugs are sparking great.
The lagging is so immidiate when any throttle is applied, I'm inclined to believe it is an electrical problem and not a fuel supply problem.
Can anyone help me salvage my reputation with this very honest and hard-working fella' who bought my boat????
