Got a '96 Johnson 88 on my pontoon and the last time I took it out it would not reach wot. It would only go to 36 to 3800 rpm. I removed each plug wire and cranked the engine one at a time to verify everything was firing, replaced the plugs. I also tried hitting the electric choke for small bursts while underway and it made no difference. I can throttle back just a little from wide open and it will occasionally surge to 4000 to 4200, it almost feels like the throttle is not opening like it should. I will replace the fuel filter today, any other suggestions, i'm at a loss!!
