since a complete rebiuld of my powerhead been running my oil gas mix about 40-1 , working good but some small carbon deposits on all 6 plugs , now after breakin going to go to 50-1 are the carbon deposits normal??? compression all checks out good , and also running good, just wondering, and also should i change plugs when going back to 50 - 1?? motor had oil injection and is now premix, thanx

I put plugs in most of my 2 strokes every year if they are used much. If they will not last a year, it better be a special racing machine or its going down the road to somebody else's garage.<br /><br />However, rarely do plugs stay clean for long. My old Merc has the goofy flat plugs in it with no tip, and they are still clean after 15+ gallons of fuel. Strange. Never seen that, but the pistons are brown like they should be. I run 50:1 premix only, and am working my way through a gallon of Johnson oil. It was on sale, otherwise I like the Tech oil at Walley-world by the gallon. My lawn equip smokes less with it, and it has all the certifications.
