88 Merc 50 HP- Water coming out of the sparkplug

I have a 88 Mercury oil injected 3 cyl 50 HP<br /><br />I just bought it with my first boat. It will start up fine but water comes out around the spark plug. I was told by the person I bought it from that it was a problem with the exhaust gasket and that gasket needs to be replaced. I have also heard by talking to others about it that it could be a water jacket problem or a possible cracked head. I dont really know anything about outboards yet as this is my first. Just wanted to see if anyone has heard of a problem like this on a Mercury or can substantiate any of the things Ive been told. Thanks.

The filler block gasket is leaking, a common problem just replace the gasket
