OK i have a 88 17' reinell with a 4.3 and a cobra outdrive. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the shift cable cause it seems to take more effort then other people on here have told me to make it shift. I disconnected were the shift cable's meet on the top of the engine and with the lower cable disconnected it is WAY easier. So . . . I was talking to the guy at the boat shop right by my house and he said in his experience to stay away from GLM aftermarket parts that he has had nothing but trouble with them. I ordered a cable throug him that he said he had found from another store and it was an omc cable but its just the actual metal cable and i would have to use my original sheath from my currently suspect bad cable. Do I use the omc cable in my old sheath? Do i order a GLM aftermarket cable? Or do I go through another aftermarket company? Any advise or suggestion would be great! Thanks!
