Hello,

My boat is bogging out when I try to give it anything more than half throttle or a little less. The crazy thing is my old sea drive motor that was on my boat before did the exact same thing.

Here is what I done so far.

The motor is getting fuel from a 20 gal portable tank with a primer bulb. I change the fitting and the bulb is newer.

I removed the carbs. ran guitar string threw the jets. One jet was clogged pretty bad. I got them all nice and clean. Gaskets were in good condition so I reused them. As far as sink the linkage both butterfly's open up at the same time and move in sync.

After I cleaned the carbs it purrs like a kitten at idle and now does not stall. :)

Replaced all fuel lines with new, replaced fuel filter.

Replaced spark plugs.

Changed rectifier. The old one was bad. Now it charges and I get rpms.

If I hold the choke button down it will get on plane and rev to about 5000 rpm. I noticed the bulb went flat when I was running it @ 5000rpms with the choke pushed in.

What should I try and do next? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Tash,

The vent on the tank is open. I did not remove the jets. The gaskets all look almost new.

Thanks for your input...

bulb going flat is cause because the vent was not open. the fuel pump works as a vacuum, sucking gas from the tank, when air does not get in it sucks the bulb flat. also could be bad check valve in the bulb, but not ususally.

Best bet to eliminate the obvious obstruction as part of the problem is to try running on a different tank and fuel line. Be sure not to use 1/4 inch line and fittings.

WHoohoo,

OK, I cleaned the carbs out again 3rd time. This time I ran compressed air threw it and I didn't over look the orphises this time.

She runs great had her out on the lake.

The only thing I noticed was a little vibration at low rpm. I think it may be my prop is out of balance.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

My 1983 1.6 ltr omc outoboard motor will not idle down below 1300 rpms, I have adjusted carborator all the way closed and adjusted timing to 4 degrees as the book calls out and it still will not idle below 1300 rpms. Any help would be appreciated thanks
