hello all, i'm new to this.i have a 88 procraft 19 1/2' with a 86 merc. 150 xr? on it.i know it heavy.but i thought it would run more than 55 mph.i have tryed a 23p mirage plus,23p quicksilver,25p laser,an a old style 24p chopper <which is the best so far> .with the chopper i can get a little more than 3/4 of the boat out of the water an top out @55mph with 6000 rpms.all other props listed boat will run 48 to 51 mph @ 4900 to 5300 rpms with only half of the boat out of water.......i have a super-jack plate 8'' <i think >on boat...any info. would be great on how i can get more lift an speed out of this boat...can't afford a new boat.so i put this one together from a 84 cajun 19' with bad tramsum.all runs was done with 1/4 tank of fuel, single rider. 3 batt. an no weight in front of boat other than t.motor...thanks for any help

Re: 88 procraft no lift or speed

Is this a 88 Procraft or a 84 Cajun?
Not really a prop expert but lets see:: Anything over 50 is pretty fast and any increase over that is likely to be a struggle.Near as I can figure the procraft is 1500+ pounds dry weight.Ive seen bay flats boats with little or no wind resistance and weight about 900 reach about 60.
I assume you've trimmed the jack plate carefully running on the ragged edge of max height.
And a fast Ranger runabout about 61.It does appear you need the bow lift and you
appear to be at max rpm.Does the boat have a pad, what is the deadrise?

this is a procraft bass boat.. i was running the cajun.it would run 68 fully loaded an 72 empty.with only back foot an half to two foot in water...the procraft has about 4 1/2 to 5 ' in water at top speed...if motor gets any higher i will lose water stream or pick-up when trimed out @ speeds . don't understand???pad an deadrise ????can you help with more info...???thanks

Basically you need a prop with more bow lift like a Raker (preferably the older style) or a Turbo Lightning. That will help a bunch, especially the Lightning.
