i have an 88 spl that has a power loss at wot. my electrical system checks out great and my carbs have been cleaned. when power loss occurs you can choke the engine and it will pick up power and speed so it has to be a fuel problem. but what? i have bypassed my whole fuel system and it still loses power. is it my fuel pump?

the pump cannot be dissasembled therefore the only maintenence is to remove the cover;clean the filter screen, install new gaskets during installationif the pump is defective it must be replaced as a unit. also try a fresh can of gas to run through the motor

i appreciate your help. okay, i took the pump out first. then i took the three screws out which exposed the screen. the gasket itself was loose pretty much all the way around except for one corner. so i took that off too. i didnt see any trash or holes so i put it all back together and mounted it back on. screwed up didnt i?

I'm curious too. Why can't the fuel pump be removed and rebuilt?

c/6

Hooty
