I need some of your opinions to help me narrow down which one I should go for. Both are in good shape and have just over 300 hours. Both also come with all the covers you could ask for. The Sea Ray is a 5.7ltr 260hp with a 44 gallon tank and the Maxum has the 7.4ltr 330hp with a 60 gallon tank. The maxum also has a wake board tower.

All I do is cruise with family and friends and definitely tube. I would like to get into more water sports with time. I love the size of the Maxum. When I got inside it seemed huge. The Sea Ray seemed more like my 20ft Invader. The maxum has a wider beam and is much deeper inside. I think the maxum would definitely feel better in choppy water.

I'm leaning more towards the Maxum but extra $2000 is what's keeping me guessing. Also the cost of gas to run that motor.

all opinions appreiciated.

OK, here's one area you need to check out MUCH closer. Just how closely have you checked for any signs of rot/water in each? I mean really checked closely. Two old boats, unless a really odd coincidence, are not likely in the same great shape. Also, the 330 hours or so on each......that's about 16 hours per year! Not much use. Did either sit for years unused?

$2k is a lot of difference percentage-wise I'm sure, but IF the Maxum engine is in great shape (mechanic verified), then that and the wake tower really are worth it, IMO. What drive type does each have? That's another big comparison dif. The 330 hp may be too much for an Alpha if it has one. Are they both original engines?

Anyways, if in VG condition, two nice boats each with good power for the size. I'd lean towards the Maxum if in good condition for size and power.

Here's the scoop:

21ft Sea Ray was sold today. The guy just called me and told me that he accepted an offer.

Maxum, here's the write up:
23 foot with 454 motor 330 horsepower new in 2000 has 300 hours, new parts list, engine coupler this is the part that conects the engine to the drive and is a 1200.00 service because the engine has to be removed for it,also while engine was out the compression was checked and all cylinders were over 125,other new parts include shifter cable, exhuast bellow boots, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, carburator, fuel pump, anti siphon valve, fuel pressure guage, water pump, sea water pump, drive has been serviced and there was no shavings in old oil,,oil filter, fuel filter, water seperater have all been changed this boat only needs fuel, new swim step, wake board tower ,bimini top,bow and cocpit snap covers which are about 2000 to install on a new boat, bow filler cusions, porta potti, regular cover to protect snap covers, lots of storage,in floor ski hold, spot for large ice chest,cd player, built in sink with running water, ship to shore radio, this boat is really a great lake mead boat because of its size you will never get wet in this boat,I have two props for the boat one is for wake boarding and will pull a house out of the water while fully loaded with people and full fuel, the other prop is a stainless steel prop for speed and with a quater tank and just myself I have had this boat to 58 on gps, interior only has rips in rear seat cusions where all the traffic comes in and out, tandem trailer needs new trailer lights,I have had this boat for three summers and am selling it to buy a new wake boat.

He said the owner before him didn't winterize it properly in 2000 and that's why it has a new motor in year 2000.
