88 horsepower 1996 johnson spl. I had to change out the throttle/gear cables, and when I did the the idle settings and throttle settings got moved around as well. the cables work fine now, but when i took the boat out yesterday it wasn,t getting enough throttle. every now and then it would jump up a notch, but only for a second. Then it would not have enough throttle to get to plane until long after i nailed it.
( what to do???????????)

Did you change anything other than the cables?
Saying that it "would jump up a notch" sounds like something other than linkage or throttle settings.
To check your throttle cabble adjustment take the air box off the carbs and push the throttle all the way forward. Lood at the butterfly's in the carbs. They should be absolutetly flat (perpendicular) across the middle of the carb throats.

i did change the linkage up, because it wouldn't idle low enough when I changed out the cables.
