I have a 1995 88 SPL. I bought a Tiny Tach a couple of weeks ago in order to trouble shoot some funky readings I'm getting on my regular tachometer. The first unit they sent wouldn't go over 2500 RPMs. I called Tiny Tach and told them about the problem. They guy said there was a bad batch and that I must have gotten one of them so he sent out a replacement right away (Amazing customer service at Tiny Tach!).

The new one they sent is the "Commercial" model that can apparently be programmed for different engines. You have to configure it for the number of pulses the engine generates. So here's my question: How many pulses does my engine put out per revolution?

Thanks

Re: 88 SPL - Tiny Tach

2 stroke engines have one pulse per piston for every revolution.
Just put your wire around one plug wire and ground on the other. You will get a very precise reading that way
