Took the boat out and had problems with the oil turning milk colored. Just put a new fule filter in and overhualed the holley carb. Could this be water in the oil and if so how did it get there? I was told by someone in another post its my fuel pump but i dont understand how fuel could get into the oil

Please help
Evinrude trouble

Sounds like a head gasket problem.

If the diaphram has a rupture it could leak gas into the block, but i would think that there would be a strong gas smell to the oil as well as severe loss of viscosity. What it sounds like is water in your oil. I have a model 888, 302 Ford. What is your motor? The # 1 cause of water in the oil is a bad exaust manifold. Do you have water on top of your pistons? Check a spark plug on each side [if it's a "V"] If you have clear water there, it's probably the manifold, they only last so long. Esp. on raw sea water models. A blown head gasket or cracked head or block are possible but unlikely unless you had a severe over-heat. J
