How can you tell if your motor is a lefthand rotation or righthand? I've been searching for a starter for my 302 ford 888 mercruiser and they list two starters for it. Need help!

Left and Right are determined by looking at the flywheel side of the motor. But since you probably can't see the flywheel, see which way the crankshaft is turning at the harmonic balancer in the front. It'll be the opposite. Looking at the front of the motor, left hand rotation will be clockwise. I think you can figure out the rest. You'd only have a right hand rotating motor if you had twins. (Probably)

Be sure to get a mini, high torque gear reduction starter. They are smaller and lighter and outperform the standard starter.
