Ihave a 88 45hp {classic 50) 4cylinder 2 stroke which when cold starts great and runs great all the time problem is when i shut it off when warm its a bear to refire.if you shut it off and it will start right back up but when you let it sit for awhile as in while iam fishing and go to start it wont fire .after 2 t0 5 minuites of letting it sit and cranking in between it will finally start.had the boat to the dealer for a tune up and impeller ,they changed the plugs checked timmng and ignition output and compression .also made any small adjustments .I didnt complain about this problem then because it wasnt as bad as now besides think they shut it off and fired it right back up witout letting it sit.anyway the fuel pump has been rebuilt along with the carbs.I even took the carbs back off to recheck the float level which was dead on.the carb idle adjustment is also to spec it idles great.useing the choke or raiseing the idle bar seems to not help any. :) also if the motor is tilted or left down no differance.my only guess is that somehow its flooding thats why it takes so long to start .any suggestion will get a big thanks.

It don't sound like flooding, next time you restart prime the bulb, if it starts you have bad ck. valves in the fuel pump--rebuild it, if it doesnt start up use the choke (primer) if it starts the carb need to be richen or cleaned. I think the engine is lean because you say it don't matter if its been up or down, makes me think the float bowls are empty--Bob
