88SPL rectifier bad again?

a few months back, i had posted that my 88SPL 1995 wasn't charging.

Did the test and found my rectifier was bad.

Bought a replacement (3 wire) from iboats.

voila...charging again. (not great but showing more than 12 volts)

now its not charging again, and guess what...rectifier bad again.

Besides a short, what could potentially kill the rectifier.

Reversing the battery or a shorted stator or a bad diode in the rectifier from poor components but unlikely.

a more common problem is loose battery cables and if its the water cooled version loss of block water pressure.
finger tight wing nuts on a battery terminal kills them quick.
