I ran my 1989 125 Force Outboard on muffs in the yard for the first time since replacing and rebuilding both carbs.
When I ran the motor with the hood off I noticed a "faint ticking" that I didn't recall hearing before, sounds like it may be in the flywheel area of the motor behind the top carb, not sure. Should I be concerned or is it normalto hear a little tick from the engine? Thanks!

Look around for the following.

1. Starter gear not disengaged.
2. Arcing from spark plug wires or coils.
3. Any wires or tie wraps that may be touching the flywheel.

Hope this helps,

John

You can use a long screwdriver like a stethescope. Put the handle to your ear and CAREFULLY touch the tip to various non rotating parts.
