So basically i had an issue with my motor running at idle after being warmed up but would not idle in gear. It would just stall out. The mechanic looking at it said the switch box was very weak on one side. So he said we may as well replace both. Fine, we did that. So it was supposed to be together yesterday and i find out today that it didnt fix the problem and now he says is the stator and has ordered me a new one and yeah, wont be here until tuesday. So now i've missed out on the long week end and a normal one. Seems like the guy is throwing parts at it hoping it works. Starting to think it may be time to get out of boating. I've cleaned the carbs, tried adjusting the idle etc. the last two boats i've purchased were problems, first one a mariah with a 350 chev and now this. Anyone else ever come across something like this? I would like to solve this problem. The motor runs fine if i can get it above idle in gear before it starts to quit on me and runs fine, but i dont want to run it like this.

sorry for the rant!

Time for a new mechanic.

A weak stator on one side just cost you not just that stator but two ignition modules that you may NOT have needed due to his failure to test ignition components correctly.

Call him, see if you can get him to reinstall your original modules or at least drop in unannounced and pick them up.

There is NO RETURN on electrical parts, once you pick up your boat those modules are yours, if he is a reputable shop he should make it right.
