89 200 black max piston problem

I have found that the piston top right (standing behind) has locked up motor.Removed piston and found the pin that holds the ring in place on piston slid out and scratched the cylinder wall.<br />I was going to change water pump after i noticed 40 % water flow out of pee hole i guess i should have done it before i went out.Question-why did pin slide out? Does low water flow to head cause these types of seizures? mercury dealer said no over sized pistons made.Weisco said they had 10,20,30 over but all need to be on a re-sleeved cylinder.I would like to bore 10 over if it will cover scratch. Some one must make a piston for it in 10 over with no re sleeve required.

id bore and sleeve to original bore size if possible, then get ONE factory piston and all new rings, get the new piston balanced to the old piston weight, seal it up, and cram it all back together.

To answer your question, your motor does not have steel sleeves that can be bored. The cylinders are chrome plated. You will need to have a replacement sleeve installed or the block re-chromed. Don't worry about that until you get the motor apart and measure the rest of the cylinders and look at the other locating pins. Yes, heat will cause the pins to become loose in any motor. <br /><br />If you do choose to order the Wiseco (your dealer should know this) use KDM style rings aginst chrome and KD style rings with steel sleeves.<br /><br />There are lots of very good shops in your area that do this work every day.
