So the main piston seal came off (worn out) and leaks every time i trim the boat up or down. I took the motor off the boat yesterday and have access to the back if need be. Most of the bolts on the sides from the unit are sheared off from the attempt to take them off (salt water corroded or im the incredible hulk and can bend metal with my hands). So instead of torching and trying to remove the bolts to pull the whole unit off can i do the following option:
From the back can i pull the main piston towards me and use the Yahama allen key to get access to the piston? The main rod is in the up position and the pin is already punched out so i would only need to lower the rod if need be. This would save hours on my end and wouldnt have to use a torch.
Any other options please let me know. Thanks in advance.
