I have an 89 3.0 with the DDIS on it. I have been having trouble with engine power lately. It starts great, idles great but when I give it gas either there is not much power or there is a backfire into the carb. Sometimes after the backfire the engine runs better and has more power. When I do get on plane the boat runs great.
Spark plugs look good and are properly gapped
Fresh gas with Seafoam
Both fuel filters are new and look good
Carb was professionally rebuilt about 5 years ago.
My RPM gauge is off, so I disconnected the gray wire as recommended here.
I do not have the engine serial number handy but I have the Merc carb and positive I have the DDIS.
I would say the majority of the issues is between above idle and below 50% throttle.
Help! I want to take my dad fishing with this boat in three weeks.
