I have a 89 Sunbird with the 3.0 OMC cobra and I had no spark, so I found that problem and fixed it by putting on a new starter solenoid, and I have also changed out the points and condenser. What my problem is now, I can start it and as soon as I let off the key it dies. I am getting plenty of fuel at the carb, checked that, so I have more reason to believe that this is an electrical issue vs. a fuel issue. Someone suggested I change the ignition switch. Need some good advice! Thanks!

Make sure the wires on the BACK of the ignition switch are tight.

Check your safety/tether. Maybe the cap is loose (or if it has been bypassed, check to see if the jumper wire is loose).

Turn the ignition switch to the run position, with a meter, check the + terminal on the coil. If no power check the ignition switch for power on the purple wire. If you have power there, it's in the wiring either the kill switch or connection somewhere between the engine and the switch.
