89 70hp VRO, bad carbs, how to properly store

I have a 89 70hp johnson VRO. this boat, i dont use it often, maybe once every few months. I'm in cali so the fuel isnt the best.

I had my carbs rebuilt about 4 months ago. I warm the motor once every 2-3 weeks for about 5 min to keep it fresh.

I haven't taken it out on the water in over 2 months, but took it out recently. The motor fired up and was holding about 3-4k RPM as it was warming, however as soon as I put it to idle, it died. No matter what I did, the boat did not idle, but it would sit at 1.3k RPM as higher fine.

I believe the low jet is clogged. Is this easy to clean? I'm tired of paying a few hundred to get it cleaned. ( would sea foam help?)

Also, since i am storing the boat and not using it often, what is the best way to store it? Should I pull the gas line out and run it the engine until it dies to clear it of any gas left in the carbs?

Get the factory manual to help cleaning the carbs is easy just take your time. Use omc 2+4 fuel conditioner in every tank of gas it's expensive but worth the price. Now do not disconnect the fuel to drain the carbs if the vro is working. Because you will stop pumping fuel and fill your carbs up with oil. If your vro is disconnected then you can run them dry. Do not run it for 5 min that does no good the motor needs to get to operating temp takes more than 5 min.

It is a mistake to warm this motor up at 4000 rpm !!!-----????------ the fuel pump section would stop pumping gasoline but not oil.----then when you prime it with gasoline on restart you have oil there already.-----Sounds like a good design !!!!

As the guy who has done this respect people at the boat landing and don't burn off your carbs that are full of oil they generally don't like it.
