89, 85HP Force LU Slop Question

Is it natural to have play or slop between the lower unit and the rest of the motor. If I hold my hand on the back of the motor, preventing the motor from moving, and grab the cavitation plate with the other hand, I can move the lower unit froward and aft about a 1/2 inch each way. Is this normal or should it be completely rigid?

See the attached photo, the portion of the lower unit below the red line moves independently of the rest of the motor.

Re: 89, 85HP Force LU Slop Question

Nevermind, I looked in the manual for beter terminology to describe my situation and found out what's going on. It's doing what it's designed to do. The whole motor leg is allowed to move. The power head is mounted on bushings. I pulled the top and can see all moving together. I wasn't sure if something had worked loose but all is OK,

Thanks,
