JReeves had given me a tip on my erratic warning horn....told me to reverse the purple and tan wires (3 wire horn)..no help. If I ground out the tan wire, shouldn't the horn sound? I'm only measuring about 6 volts on the purple wire (battery is good). Maybe I have a bad ignition switch? The horn doesn't come on when the key is first turned on either......

Help.....and Thanks in advance

Tony.... If you're only showing 6 volts at the purple wire and you're sure the battery is okay, there's a voltage drop somewhere due to a loose wire, corrosion, something. Check the input "B" terminal of the ignition switch (12 volts), and then with the key in the "ON" position, you should have 12 volts at the ignition switch terminal that leads to the warning horn. If not, find out why.

Some of the horns are marked on the side by the termials + -, the purple would go to +. When you get 12 volts like Joe said.

I guess this lack of voltage would cause the horn not to come on when to key is switched on.
