I'm reading that it's not realistic/possible to swap my Force 125 O/B (scared of Force) on my 89 Bayliner Capri to another O/B of similar hp. Is this true? And can someone recommend another brand engine?

I don't see why you could not make the swap. The only concern would be weight difference between the old and new engine. I think you will find the newer engines will preform much better and more reliable than the force.

the only problem is forsee is patching the old hole in the transom, if the don't line up with another motor. that 125 is probably equal to a 110 of the same era. if the boat is in good condition, and you like it. i see no real problems with a refit. imho, anything would be better than the force( except a chrysler)

Ahoy, Greg.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Is that an outboard Force or an "L" drive?

Either way, conversion is quite possible and I would wager that there are a lot of B'liners out there that came with Force and now sport a mainline outboard.

Bottom line? Yes, it is possible with little difficulty.
