ok, when I get to the ramp its a little sluggish starting. Not bad, if I use the warm up lever itll start and stay running, then I will let it down and it usually does ok, sometimes itll die here and there when the warmup lever is released.

when I run the engine and come down to an idle after being run itll idle down and run as slow as I want it to and not die or anything, but if I turn the engine off and fish for a while...30 min, or an hour or so, i sometimes have to briefly use the warmup lever again.

I am being picky now because I have gotten all the major problems out of the way, but is this normal?

or maybe something a decarb will help with?

I have completely rebuilt the carbs and cleaned them so I know its not that.

any ideas, or is it normal...take mind its not bad but I would just like to be able to turn the key all day and it start right up and idle low, etc...

set your idle speed up just a little, or live with it.

I guess the idle speed, is the two part nut on the idle linkage?

this is the same thing I adjusted when the butterflies were moving too far at first correct?

I might have backed them off too much.

Yours sounds like a mirrow image of my 87 70hp Johnson-
Mine starts at a "key touch" now about 85% of the time once warmed up :)
If all else is good just keep some Seafoam in your tank, i do & it seems it gets a little better every trip out ;)
Go ahead & de-carb, sure won't hurt-

My motor (also an '89 70) behaves exactly the same way. I think it's a looper thing - prefers running at speed.

thanks...ill probably just leave it alone then and maybe do a decarb or start running so seafoam through it.

it runs like a top after warmed up and at WOT.
