89 force 125 help!

So i picked up a boat for cheap and need help getting the outboard running. First, should the electric choke actuate when i turn the key? Choke solenoid is brand new. The ignition is mostly connected but the purple orange and black wire aren't. Where do these wires connect?

i'm not sure on your setup but most of them have the choke close when you push the key in rather than turning it.

Choke is activated when you PUSH the key. smaller purple wire is tachometer and only hooked when there is a tack present in the dash. Orange goes to overheat alarm as does heavier purple wire and black wire goes to kill switch tether along with white

Sometimes the purple wires are a HOT lead.
Test before you hook up something and blow it up.
