Here's whats going on.. I just swapped out powerheads from an 87 to 89 and the wiring seems to be different alittle bit so when I connected everything back today and hooked up the battery my trim and tilt didn't work ( when I hooked it up to a battery it did) and when I turn the key there's no response from the starter but when I push the key in the choke engages then nothing but when I ground the starter out manually it turns over. I'm lost at this point, could it be the ignition switch and if it is wouldn't it turn over and just not start? I checked all the fuses and they're all good. Any response would be greatly appreciated. -Paul

If you match up your boat harness applications to the new powerhead applications it should work. The colors won't be the same but it should work. You need to go screw by screw on the terminal block and verify the connections.

When you say you ground the starter out manually, do you mean jumper the black wire stud to ground? Or are you talking about jumping accross the terminals of the solinoid?
