i have an 89 125 l drive runs fine at wot and starts with no problems. problem comes in when i idel or run at no or little wake speed. after a few minutes it will start running rough and start filling a miss then will not ideal and die if i do not open it up. it will start right up after it dies but runs sluggish at wot for a minute or less then runs fine after. im thinking carbs maybe loading up at low power, smokes a little more once it starts running rough from exhaust and from exhaust vent of engine compartment. plus can smella little raw fuel smell. i did check for an exhaust leak in engine bay but found no problem there. adjusted carb by manual then by sticky in the forums, but same problem. the boat did set up form about five years. problem started the forth time i had it out. before i took it out 1st time we replace plugs and wires all four firing cleaned tank and carbs. and the 1st few time out no problem. need someone to point out what im over looking.

read here about fuel recirculation line being gummed up. could this be my problem since it set up so long?

Not only the lines, but there is a one way valve and a small mesh screen in the cylinder drain cover itself that should be checked. I would also take a look at the fuel pump diaphragm (pin holes or small tear) and the needle valves in the carburetors if you have not already done so.

rebuilt the fuel pump cleaned lines and the screen in the valve. then readjusted the carbs. and now i can idil it with little problem. what i mean by that is if i let it idil for more than 5 minutes or so then go wot out of the hole i get one small spudder then runs fine. any idiling under that it runs perfect, even getting it at a higher speed at wot. dont exspect it to be perfect after all its an 89 bayliner capri with the 125 force ldrive. getting top speed of 35 at about 5000rpm not sure what pitch the prop is but seems to be doing ok. and thats with 2 200+ guys in there and a little off that subject. what would i have to do to add a trim gauge. not really to use for trimming the motor but to make sure it is moving. already had it quit because of a short. fixed now. i sealed engine compartment very well and can no longer hear the trim work but made the boat alot quieter. 125 force ldrive thanks

Look at the first "Sticky" at the top of this Forum index labeled "Sticky: Force & Chrysler FAQ and other great information". Under that listing, Frank has great step by step instructions labeled "Synchronizing Carbs and timing on a 75-150 Chrysler or early Force". Lots of good info on getting your carbs set up and adjusted.
