Greetings! Just purchased a 1989 Four Winns 170 that is in great shape. Couple questions regarding battery placement and blower hoses. After looking under the back cover the blower hose (looks like dryer vent hose?) disconnected. Not sure what this does but if its there it should be connected so need some advice as to what this should look like connected. Also, the battery was under tha back seat but not sure this is where this should go either.

Thanks in advance

Everything sound standard there Narmer..

The hoses are connected to the vents right .. ? One is inflow..the othere is outflow..

Battery seems to be in the right location.

Re: 89 Four Winns 170 questions

Well, I have two hoses coming form each vent. On the right side, one hose is attached to the blower motor, other is disconnected....on the left side two hoses come out but are not connected to anything.

Re: 89 Four Winns 170 questions

Are you saying that 3 hoses are Not connected to anything .. Not in the bilge but on the Vents ? There just flopping around in the compartment ?

If the hoses are connected to the Vents then Im thinking your fine..

Do you have an owners manual for this ship ? Does it say not only to blow but to Raise seating or engine cover prior to starting ? ( I have seen that before ).

Re: 89 Four Winns 170 questions

I have an 87 Four Winns 210 Horizon.... basically the same boat... you should have one hose from the blower to the port vent and from the blower fastened down low in the bilge behind the engine... The other port side hose goes from the vent to back on the transom.

On the starboard side the two hose go from the vent one low in the bilge and one higher up on the transom.

All of the hoses are connected by zip ties, the ones with the hole for a screw to hang them.... Hope this clears it up for you :D

The batteries should be mounted under the rear seat starboard side.
