I have a 89 Johnson 150 V6 GT VRO and it eats power packs/coils for breakfast. I understand this motor is known for this but what might be causing or at least amplifying the problem. My last pack burned up on the second short trip after I replaced it. It stops firing on the three port cylinders.

Dan

Check the stator output to powerpack at full throttle in gear, in water, loaded, replace ignition coils and wire, and clean all ground and wire connections. Check magnets in flywheel, may be loose.

I hate when those **** magnets come loose. Trying to run an older 40 merc 1970's Come to find out the reason it wasn't running was becasue one of the magnets let go and moved.... Good thing the flywheel is not put on by glue or i think that could hurt! :D
