Hello I just bought a new to me boat with this motor I was wondering what gear oil weight I need to put in the lower unit? Should I put quicksilver in or ams oil? Thank you for for insight and help.

That is a mechanical shift motor, right? Use any marine grade gear oil for mechanical shift motors.

As for two cycle oil, use any TC-W III rated 2 cycle oil. Amsoil is not TCW rated, or at least is wasn't the last time I looked.

Quicksilver High performance, SAE 90, gear lube will do nicely

( High Performance, rather than Premium, being recommended for motors over 75 hp)

Use the best oil you can find.----See your BRP / Evinrude dealer.----Gears , bearings and shafts are expensive and no point penny pinching on oil.

Notice that all suggestions have the word marine in them and not automotive. Quicksilver or Amsoil will do fine....
