I had a similar problem finding parts for my old King Cobra.......I fixed it a different way.


Your best bet will probably be ebay or a "bone" yard.

Someone claimed to have rebuilt on once. Mine's bad, too. I'm going to pull it one day this winter when I'm bored and see if that's even possible.

It's just a simple variable resistor. the wiper can get a little corroded if water gets inside.

I took my Mercruiser trim sender apart, cleaned it all up and put it back together. I can't remember of the Cobra sender can be disassembled or not but it is worth a try.

Spend the $ on something else. The information you'll get from it is pointless. It's only good for slight trimming. It doesn't read the drive position across the entire sweep, just fine tuning once it's down. So, unless you're doing speed runs all day, just leave it.

True, the tilt position is out of range of the sender, although the effective trim range on mine is well within the scale, my boat will blow out when the trim reaches full up, depending on how many riders I have up front. When trailering I'll watch the trim gauge and when it reaches full up I count down from 10 whilw listening for the squeel of the trim pump. Another thing I use often is when I'm just tooling around in very shallow water I can trim full up and the gauge tells me when to stop without stressing the u-joints.
All said and done I could get by without it though, I just like it when everything works.
PS. Mine is adjusted so full down on the gauge is actually just a smidgen from the pump squeel of drive full down.
I rebuilt my sender with a radio shack pot. It wasn't easy as the cobra sender is not servicable, you have to dig out the composite material carefully and bed the new pot in with epoxie then dip the whole thing in plastisol, thats how I did it.
