Hey guys,

Just looking for some help on my 350 magnum.

Everything was fine yesterday when I launched the boat and came around the pier to my beach. I anchored for a short while. When my wife and I wanted to head out to a different beach a few points over then the problem started.

Here is what happened.

The boat started and ran fine but as soon as I tried to slide the shift level into forward it would want to die. neutral and reverse worked fine.

I also noticed that the lever would bind a bit at the end of the forward travel...( i think this was from the switch binding with the "bump" on the shift bracket?)

I ended up playing with the adjustments but still could not get it to run and shift into forward...I ended up removing the interrupt switch so at least I could get going in forward.

I am thinking that the shift cable could be worn?

Maybe redoing the adjustments per the specs could help?

Maybe the shift interrupt bracket and switch could be a problem?

I am always hands on but I really wont have time replace the cable this week and my wife really wants to use the boat next week on our holiday...

I may try to readjust the cable per specs tonight but if that doesn't work I may bring it in to the local marina for the work to be done... Any ideas on the cost for a new cable and the labour, as I know the drive needs to come off...how about the cost of the bracket?

Thanks for the help!

Try adjust first to see if it can be fixed, my guess is probably not

If it cannot be fix through adjustment, going to need to replace the lower shift cable. They fail quite often over time

The shift interrupt should not be engaging going into gear. It is used to get out of gear.

OK, I didnt know that. So then I could theoretically get around by starting the boat then selecting either F or R and simply shut it down to get it back into neutral for
now?
