Had my boat on the lake today, was running great. It started to become hard to start, almost like no fuel or fire, it would eventually start and idle fine. After putting it in gear, up to about 1200rpms it would run. If I attempted to accelerate more it would fall flat on its face. It did this several times, then all at once it would take off as normal. It did get progressively worse every time I went throught this sequence. I also think it used an excessive amount of fuel, may or may not be related.

I would greatly appreciate some advice.

Sounds like you need to pull carbs and rebuild them...shouldn't cost much for the parts(gaskets, needle, etc.) in kit form from dealer...carbs need to be soaked in cleaner after being tore down
You could do terminal damage to your motor running it this way....

The carbs were rebuilt about 6 months ago, at least that's what I paid for. :(

Anything else you didn't tell us that would have a bearing on this? Perhaps a new fuel pump at that time? We already have two responses just because the carb rebuilds were NOT mentioned. Next time the engine begins to act up squeeze the primer bulb a couple of times. If the engine suddenly comes to life you have a fuel delivery problem -- very likely the fuel pump. Fuel system restrictions (rarely the line) and bad primer bulbs can also create this situation. The pickup tube in the tank can be the problem. Try running the engine on a portable tank.
