These are pictures of the boat when I recieved it as a cuddy cabin, and after being converted to a bowrider.
Next post will look at the progress from bare hull to center console. This may take some time due to work, and it gets dark before I get home evenings. Weekends are kind of busy so progress is slow.

Well that second picture makes it look like the captain sits a long way back from the front of the boat, to me it looks a bit odd, but you sure have done a lot of work to make this conversion. I hope the boats turns out like you want.
Keep on posting pictures, it's always interesting to see how people do things to their boats.

Did look a little odd, but got a lot of complements at the dock. I think mostly the awe of someone willing to take on a project like that. You had to put the boat on to drive it, but man was it fun setting way back like that. Felt like taking off in a 747, and had one serious open bow.
Now it's time to recreate and turn it into a center console. Who knows what might be next.

Maxum 247:
Is that a 17 footer? I'm guessing because of the 85 hp Force on the back of it! I have an 89 17' bowrider and was curious if you found any deck rot or soft spots in the deck when you pulled out the carpet? I've read so many posts on boats newer than ours with rotted decks and stringers, yet when I pound on my deck I can't find any weak spots. I'm hoping that Maxum designed a well built boat

Floor was bad because of 2 inches of straw and acorns sitting on floor for a dozen or so years. Stringers and stern were good. It's a 20 footer with a 125 Force. When all put together mine is pretty solid, altough the thickness does seem to very, but not a real concern to me.

Oops, I guess I need glasses, on second look that is a 125 not 85 hanging off the transom. Good to hear your stringers were in good shape. I keep mine covered when not in use and stored inside during the winter, so as of yet everything is still solid. Thanks for your reply!

I really like what youre doing with the boat, maybe if you have eliminated too much weight in the bow you could install a couple of built-in coolers or large storage compartments to offset the weight.

It did want to raise the bow high as a bowrider, but once on plane ran nice and level. Engine kicks out at a lot on this design, not enough degree in the stern for Force design. Won't trim in enough to correct bow rise on take off. So I've got a choice, shim the engine, or weight the bow. Someday will shim but man that 125 is a big engine and my back isn't as strong as it used to be.

Don't forget about trim tabs (or smart tabs), I would look at those before I start adding dead weight to the boat..

This boat is being done on the cheap if you will 10 and 15 dollars here and there. Seeing how far I can proceed at low cost, boat may never see finish paint. It's the creating for me that's important. Altough there's nothing like an all out power run at full throttle. And trolling at idle for for that monster fish, which is usually under 18 inches.

max!
