I just picked up a 1989 Bayliner Arriva with the stock 305 LX engine. I had to replace the fuel pump (this was known when i bought it). Anyways, there is a open connection for a push on hose on the front of the 4bbl carb, then there is another on the back of the fuel pump. Should these 2 have a hose connecting them together?

Yes.......It should be a clear fuel grade plastic tube. It's purpose is to direct fuel into the carb/intake instead of into the bilge when the fuel pump diaphragm ruptures.

Ayuh,..............

By the sounds of it,..... You need a piece of Clear Tubing......
That would be the Sight Tube for when the fuelpump diaphram leaks......

Thanks, I hooked it up. Turned out to be a ton of water in the tank. I got that removed, replaced my brand new water/fuel seperator filter. It was full of water. Pulled and rebuilt the carb. That thing was terrible. It must have been sitting with water in it for a while. Thinking of switching to a Edlebrock marine carb. It's up and running but it idles rouogh and will stall out going from idle to WOT. Man, i just want to get this out on the water!
