89 RUDE 120HP Steering

I have an 89 120 mounted on an 89 Stratos FS 279. Steering is very stiff, cant read numbers on cable either. Anyone know if a 16' cable will do?. Overall length of the boat is 19'

go to teleflex.com. steering. it has how to measure. determine if you have rack or rotary steering.

Before you run off and buy a cable, remove it from the motor's tilt tube and clean and re-lube it. That might be all you need. That is a regular and often ignored preventative maint item. Let it go long enough and you won't be able to steer it at all.

The cable should have the part number and length marked on it, toward the rear.
