Hey guys, bought a 89' Sunbird, 19ft, 4.3 liter OMC last year and looking to get a new prop. Don't know much about props. Im looking to get more top speed from it. It has the stock prop, it says 14 or 14 1/2 on it...can't remember. The prop has some knicks in it and i can get up to 37mph at around 4400 rpms. the guy i bought it from said he had a different prop on it at one time and he could get it up to 45mph. What size/pitch of prop would be a good choice to get the boat to its max speed, and what speed should i expect. Thanks a lot

Welcome,if you read the stickies at the top of the page it will help you understand prop selection
better.
Your prop has 2 demensions Diameter X pitch in inches. A typical prop size in an I/O is "about" 14" X 19" Your size may appear on the barrel or under the prop nut.
We need to know the size of your prop and the max rpm and speed with that prop.
If you can get us the info needed in the stickies that would help as well.

Alrighty, yanked the prop off today and it is 14 1/2 x 19, 37 mph max, at around 4500rpm, thinking of a 14.25 x 21, would this be a good choice or would something else work out better. Thanks
