On my bottom carb on the right side the brass tube above the throttle plate on the intake side of the plate is continuously squirting gas. I'm not sure what this tube is exactly but I'm guessing it is only supposed to squirt gas at high rpm. The gas is squirting right out of the carb and pooling in the cowling.

I have removed the carb disassembled it and find no obvious problem. Can anyone tell me what the function of the tube is and what would cause it to spray gas constantly.

That sounds like the backdraft jet. It is not supposed to leak or squirt fuel ever. Sounds like a carb rebuild is in order for you. Some of those older V6 motors no longer have floats available, so check it out before you take it apart, so you know how careful to be.

I disassembled the carb looks perfect no different on the leaking side from the non leaking. Any advice on what parts beyond gaskets and o rings to replace. Float looks good
. I was hoping someone could tell me what the mechanism of failure would be so I could be sure to get it fixed.

Likely your inlet needle and seat are not sealing. Replace those, clean the carb and install new gaskets. Adjust float height to spec.

Cleaned up the carb, reassembled with a new gasket kit and it runs great. Did not replace needles or seats as they showed no wear. The carbs surprisingly easy to work on.
