'89 xr4 lu

I have a chance to buy a LU, the seller gives measurements of "38 1/2 inches from the tip of the spline to the prop shaft". (he is parting it out...) Will this be a good fit for my 25" XR4?
It's about 10* F now and I ain't gonna drop mine to check. :cold:

Thanks Gerry, But I'm familiar with how to measure in place.
As stated he is parting it out and with a measurement of "38 1/2 inches from the tip of the spline to the prop shaft" it would be some transom, eh? Let me try to reexplain...vision the LU (only) laying on the ground with the drive shaft in it, now measure it as he did. Any one know what if this would fit a 25" XR4 if it would be installed? This fellow does not have the power head available for the proper measurements.

Well, the reason I sent it to you was so that you would hopefully get him to measure from the anti-ventilation plate to the top of the splines which would give you enough to determine what it is. I guess I surmise too much.

And what would that measurement be for a 25"?
This guy is not a next door neighbor, he is via email approx. 1,800 miles from me and probably not sitting on his 'puter at all times. I have to deal with what I am given. Thought someone would know...or might have one physically sitting around to measure.
