Is there a big difference between Napa 8D batteries for $200 vs the other brands that want $300 or $400? I'm thinking of replacing my two on board my 42 ocean.
8D batteries range from AGM to lead-acid, from 1100 CCA to 1800 CCA, and everywhere in between. so, to answer your question, yes, there probably is a difference.
make sure your comparing apples to apples.
Enersys and east-penn are two really good battery manufacturers.
Napa doesn't sell junk and I woudl have no problem getting anything there, don't be lulled into thinking more expensive is better, some times it is but mostly it is just marketing, Napa also bakc there stuff really well.
IMHO there is way more to it than the store you buy them at and the size of the battery. As was stated earlier, there is a range, even if you're talking about an 8D. Are we talking apples and apples? You can have a Lead Acid, Gel, or AGM battery. It can be starting battery or a Deep Cycle. What are the CCA and AH ratings for each battery. If you're talking about 2 8D batteries where one is twice the price of the other, there is a difference you are not looking at. More than likely it's in total Amp Hour capacity and/or your comparing a lead acid to an AGM.
There is not enough information to accurately answer your question.
